What is it about?
digital movements worked with a customer to develop a touchscreen checkout system for fast food restaurants.
This project was preceded by a market analysis, which showed that a touchscreen POS system in the fast-food sector will stand out from the current market status of POS systems due to the customer’s special modern requirements, particularly in the area of customer loyalty and customer retention.
The project was successfully implemented and achieved improvements in the areas of customer loyalty and customer retention that far exceeded the planned level.
digital movements was subsequently able to successfully sell and support the system to other well-known customers in the fast food sector.
What did we do?
- Market analysis of POS systems in the fast food sector
- Development of a functional and technical concept for the touchscreen POS system
- Development of the software components of the touchscreen POS system such as
- Touchscreen POS system with customer screen
- Shop/store management system
- Customer loyalty system
- Customer loyalty system
- reporting system
- Interfaces to payment gateways, barcode scanners, cash drawers, receipt printers, sales scales, etc.
- Establishment of a service organization for customer support
- Supporting customers with the integration of the system into their existing IT infrastructure Development of marketing materials for sales promotion
- Distribution of the system to well-known customers from the fast food sector
Which methods/tools did we use?
- C#
- WPF
- ASP.NET
- Sql Server
- DeKlarit (MDM / ORM)
- Enterprise Architect (UML)
What results have we achieved?
The POS system was successfully integrated into the customer’s IT infrastructure. In particular, the implemented customer loyalty systems were successfully used to reduce the effort involved in customer service and customer loyalty. In addition, the almost real-time and centrally available sales data could be successfully used for more efficient and faster decision-making in pricing and for monitoring the success of promotions, etc. Furthermore, cash management was supported by corresponding functions in the POS system and the shop/store management systems.
What conclusions have we drawn?
Despite the great success of the POS system in fast food restaurants, after several years of operation we have decided not to develop the system any further and instead to concentrate on the further development of digital movements.
